What the Ministry announced for 2026

The Ministry of Commerce reported that more than one million products were discounted across physical and online stores during the 2026 sales season. Its Arabic announcement says the season began in August and continues through 30 October 2026, while enforcement teams monitor compliance with discount rules.

The Ministry’s discount-licence service allows qualifying businesses and online stores to apply electronically, submit product and before-and-after price lists, pay through official channels and print a licence. A licensed season does not mean the Ministry recommends a particular product or guarantees that its quality suits the buyer.

Check the price, not only the percentage

Record the stated price before discount, the discounted price, delivery charge, tax and any required subscription or bundle. Compare the final payable total with another reputable seller. A 50% banner can still be poor value if the reference price is unclear or unrelated fees appear at checkout.

For a time-limited offer, take a screenshot showing the seller, product, date, price and conditions before paying. That evidence can help if the checkout total changes or the delivered item differs. Do not let a countdown timer replace basic verification.

Verify the seller and licence

On a physical premises, look for the displayed discount information and ask for a proper invoice. Online, check the business identity, contact information, secure address and returns policy. Follow the Ministry’s official service or consumer channels if the licence or business claim is uncertain.

A social-media profile using a Saudi flag, ministry color or copied logo is not proof of authorization. Be cautious when the seller accepts only a personal bank transfer, cryptocurrency or payment link sent in a private message. Use a payment method that provides a clear transaction record.
