Separate the official occupation from the internal job title

An offer letter may use a detailed internal title while government systems use a standardized occupation. Start by checking what appears in your Qiwa employment records and Resident Identity information, then compare it with the duties in your documented contract. Do not assume that a similar-sounding English title represents the same official classification.

A spelling preference is different from an incorrect occupation. Write down the current occupation, the proposed occupation and the actual job duties. This three-part comparison gives HR a precise issue to review and helps avoid changing a record merely to make its wording look more modern.

The employer starts the request in Qiwa Business

Qiwa's employer guidance routes the business user to Services, Occupation Management and Manage Occupation Requests, where the employer selects Change Occupation and the relevant employee. The live service determines which occupations are available and whether the establishment and employee satisfy current conditions.

Ask HR for the proposed occupation name and request status before you receive an approval prompt. Do not give anyone your Qiwa password, Nafath approval or one-time code so they can respond on your behalf. An authorized employer user controls the business request; your personal authentication remains yours.

Review the request in Qiwa Individuals

Qiwa's individual service description says employees can view profession-change requests sent by their employer and accept or reject them. Sign in to your own Qiwa Individuals account through the official site, open the occupation-change area offered in your current-job services, and select the pending request.

Before deciding, compare the establishment, current occupation and proposed occupation. Save the request details privately. Accept only when the request matches the agreed role and the information you understand. If it is wrong, reject it through the available action and send HR a short written explanation identifying the field that needs correction.

Check regulated and skill-classified occupations carefully

Some occupations can be affected by professional accreditation, qualification matching, localization requirements or the work-permit skill-classification framework. The list and evidence requirements can change. The fact that an employer can type a title into an internal system does not mean Qiwa will permit the same official occupation for that worker.

If the service shows a blocker, ask HR to provide the exact message and the official authority responsible for clearing it. Use that authority's own portal for accreditation or evidence. Avoid unofficial agents who promise a profession that does not match your qualifications or actual work; an inaccurate record can create later problems with renewals and regulated services.

Confirm fees and wait for the final status

HRSD states that the employer bears the fee for changing a non-Saudi worker's profession. If you are asked to transfer that fee personally, request the reason in writing and compare it with the official rule. Keep the request reference and any payment discussion together.

An employee acceptance is not the same as final completion. Continue to check the request status in Qiwa and ask HR when connected labour and passport records have updated. Do not present an old Iqama image as proof that the new occupation failed; systems and physical or digital identity views may update at different times.

Verify the result across your records

After HR confirms completion, compare Qiwa, the employment contract and the official residency record available to you. Note the completion date and keep a copy of the approved request. If one system still shows the old occupation after a reasonable update period, report the exact mismatch to HR or Qiwa support.

Do not create a second request simply because one screen has not refreshed. First establish which system is authoritative for the missing update and whether the case is still processing. If the change affects a professional licence, ask the relevant regulator whether a separate update is required; Qiwa completion does not automatically prove every external registry changed.

If the requested occupation does not match your work

Ask the employer to pause the request while you compare the proposed occupation with the signed contract and actual duties. State the mismatch factually—for example, the request names one occupational family while the documented role and qualifications belong to another. Keep the contract and request screenshots private.

If the employer pressures you to approve information you believe is false, do not share credentials or accept merely to clear a notification. Use Qiwa's available reject action and keep its confirmation. Seek guidance through Qiwa or HRSD using the reference and supporting documents. A disagreement over classification should be resolved in the source record, not hidden with an edited translation or unofficial letter.

Where the issue could affect your professional licence or right to perform regulated work, contact the relevant professional body as well. Ask a narrow question about the required classification and retain its written answer for HR.
