What the health sandbox does
The Ministry of Health’s sandbox provides a controlled environment where innovators, startups and developers can test healthcare solutions. The Saudi Press Agency lists digital health, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, biotechnology and 3D printing among the supported fields.
A supervisory committee evaluates proposed solutions and provides regulatory and technical guidance. The objective is to test ideas safely and improve their readiness before wider implementation.
Why regulated testing matters
Health technology can affect clinical decisions and sensitive personal information, so controlled testing is important. Participation in a sandbox does not mean that a product has final approval for general clinical use.
Patients should continue to use established providers and official health applications. Companies interested in the program should consult the Ministry’s current eligibility, data-governance and application requirements.
